UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The annual Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York from 28 to 30 Nov., said a UN envoy on South-South Cooperation on Monday.

Organized by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in collaboration with UN agencies and other partners, the GSSD Expo "will strategically engage all development actors, including the private sector, civil society, academic and philanthropic organizations, to scale up concrete Southern-grown initiatives to help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," Jorge Chediek, secretary-general's envoy on South-South Cooperation and UNOSSC director, said at a press conference.

This year marks 10 years since the GSSD Expo's inception in 2008, he said.

Chediek told reporters that in the first few years, the expo was held in UN headquarter cities and in the last two years, it took place in member states.

About 50 institutional partners representing UN member states, private sectors and regional organizations and about 800 delegates from over 120 member states will attend the expo, he said.
