TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday called for boosting Iran's military capabilities to "deter enemies," according to his official website.

"You should boost capabilities and preparedness as much as you can, so that the enemies of Iran could not even dare to threaten the Iranian nation," Khamenei said at a meeting with the Iranian Navy commanders.

"A vast front of enemies and rivals have lined up against the Islamic republic," he added.

Khamenei urged all Iranian authorities, particularly the Navy, to accelerate their efforts to compensate for "the past delays" in progress.

Iran is not seeking war with any country, but the armed forces should develop their capabilities to deter any potential aggressor, the Iranian supreme leader noted.
