Macao's merchandise export rises in October

MACAO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Macao's total merchandise export for October amounted to 1.06 billion patacas (about 132 million U.S. dollars), up 31.2 percent year-on-year, the Macao Special Administrative Region's statistic service said here on Thursday.

From January to October, total value of merchandise export increased by 8.0 percent year-on-year to 10.13 billion patacas (about 1.26 billion U.S. dollars), of which value of re-exports (8.84 billion patacas or 1.10 billion U.S. dollars) grew by 11.8 percent, but that of domestic exports (1.29 billion patacas or 160 million U.S. dollars) declined by 12.1 percent.

Analyzed by destination, merchandise export to Chinese mainland (1.71 billion patacas or 214 million U.S. dollars) decreased by 4.2 percent year-on-year in the first ten months, exports to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (6.31 billion patacas or 789 million U.S. dollars) and the EU (163 million patacas or 20 million U.S. dollars) rose by 15.5 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.

Exports of non-textiles in the first ten months went up by 11.0 percent year-on-year to 9.54 billion patacas (about 1.19 billion U.S. dollars), of which value of machines, apparatus and parts (1.97 billion patacas or 246 million U.S. dollars) grew by 85.6 percent, but that of electronic components (429 million patacas or 53 million U.S. dollars) declined by 32.4 percent.

Exports of textiles and garments in the first ten months totaled 586 million patacas(about 73 million U.S. dollars), down by 24.8 percent.
