TOKYO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Japan's two-time Olympic gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu will miss the Figure Skating Grand Prix Final in Vancouver due to a right ankle injury, according to the Japan Skating Federation.

The four-time winner of the GP Final picked up the injury during practice at the Rostelcom Cup in Moscow earlier this month and decided to withdraw from this year's GP Final after undergoing medical tests in Japan, the federation said on Thursday.

Canada's Keegan Messing will replace Hanyu to compete on home soil. The 26-year-old, who stands 10th in the world rankings, finished eighth in the World Championships in Milan.

The 2018-19 GP Final will take place from December 6 to 8.
