MUSCAT, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Mohammed Abdel Salam, spokesman for Yemeni Houthi rebel, travelled on a plane on Wednesday from the Omani capital Muscat to the Swedish capital Stockholm to attend the upcoming peace talks, an official statement from the Omani Foreign Ministry said.

The Omani statement said that Oman's facilitation of the travel came within the framework of efforts exerted by the country to support the efforts of the United Nations to hold consultations between the Yemeni parties.

Oman on Monday received 50 wounded Houthi rebel fighters for treatment in hospitals. The Houthis had required the travel before their delegation leaving for Sweden to participate in the peace talks.

Some experts expect Sweden's consultations to discuss confidence-building measures between the Yemeni parties, negotiations on prisoners and detainees exchange agreement and the reopening of Sanaa International Airport.
