Zambia's FA hails clubs for advancing to second round of CAF inter-club competitions

LUSAKA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's soccer governing body on Thursday commended the country's four representatives in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club competitions for qualifying to the second round.

Zambia's four representatives in the inter-club competitions namely Zesco United, Nkana, Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles qualified to the second round of their respective competitions after recording victories away and at home.

"We are extremely happy with our flag carriers in both the CAF Confederations Cup and Champions League. They have done the association and the nation proud. These results are a clear statement that our football has continued to grow both at domestic and international level," Desmond Katongo, spokesperson of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), said.

The association, he said, was hopeful that the clubs will continue representing the country diligently and reaffirmed the association's commitment to support the clubs.

The association is hopeful that the strides the clubs are making on the continent will drive the game further up, he added. Enditem
