ATHENS, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The majority of Greek citizens trust the army, police and schools, and distrust political parties, banks and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), results of a poll released here on Friday in indicated.
A total of 89 percent of Greeks have confidence in the armed forces, 72 percent trust the police and 66 percent schools, according to the survey carried out by polling firm Public Issue, which explored how the financial crisis and bailout programs of the past eight years affected the nation's attitude towards institutions.
Most Greeks trust the Presidency of the Republic (62 percent), the citizens (62 percent), universities (60 percent), the justice system (53 percent) and the central Bank of Greece (51 percent).
On the other hand, only 12 percent of respondents said they trusted political parties, 13 percent NGOs and 28 percent banks.
Television channels and newspapers have also lost the trust of Greek people, according to the poll. Only 22 percent of respondents expressed confidence in television and 24 percent in newspapers.
The survey was conducted on Nov. 6-16, 2018 on a sample of 1,000 voters.
