MADRID, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors will not take legal action to overturn the result of the Copa Libertadores final, coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto said on Sunday.

The comments came after Boca's hopes of winning a seventh Copa Libertadores title were dashed by a 3-1 loss to their Argentine rivals River Plate in the second leg of the final.

The result at Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium gave River a 5-3 aggregate victory after a 2-2 draw in the first match at Boca's La Bombonera last month.

Originally scheduled for River's Monumental stadium on Nov. 24, the fixture was postponed and shifted to Madrid after several Boca players were injured in an attack on their team bus.

"As far as the result goes, for me, it's final," Barros Schelotto said. "As for the legal aspect, it would be good if [South American Football Confederation] CONMEBOL adopts some kind of measure , but not with respect to who won or any penalty for River or Boca.

"An attack on a team bus cannot be allowed to happen however it is something that is beyond the control of River or Boca."

Boca had requested that the second leg be canceled, arguing that River should have been expelled from the competition following the violent scenes.

They had an original request to suspend the match rejected by CONMEBOl before taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

According to Boca, a precedent was set in 2015 when they were kicked out of the Copa Libertadores after their own fans attacked River players with pepper spray in the tunnel at halftime of a last 16 match.

On Saturday, CAS ruled that the final must proceed, but added that it would consider whether River should be penalized at a later date.

Last week, Boca forward Carlos Tevez described the decision to move the clash to Madrid as "embarrassing".

"They took away our dream of playing the final in our country," said the former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus player.
