JERUSALEM, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military said on Tuesday that it had located a third Hezbollah "attack tunnel" crossing from southern Lebanon into Israeli territory.

"IDF (Israel Defense Forces) troops exposed a cross-border attack tunnel that crossed the Blue Line from Lebanese territory into Israel," a military spokesperson said in a statement.

"The attack tunnel is under the IDF's control and does not pose an imminent threat," the statement added.

The tunnel was boobytrapped with explosive devices that had been placed inside it, according to the army. "Any entrance from the Lebanese side is dangerous," the spokesperson warned, adding that the Israeli army "currently operates to investigate the attack tunnel."

The army charged that the recently discovered tunnel is "another blatant breach" of United Nations Resolution 1701 and of Israeli sovereignty. It added that it holds the Lebanese government accountable for tunnels dug from Lebanese territory.

"IDF troops will continue to operate in accordance with the approved plan to locate and expose the Hezbollah terror organization's attack tunnels," the army said.

The tunnel was uncovered amidst the "Northern Shield" operation, launched by the Israeli military a week ago in order to destroy cross-border tunnels constructed by Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based Shiite militia. It was the third cross-border tunnel uncovered since the operation began on Dec. 4.

Israel and Hezbollah had a month-long war in 2006 that ended in a cease-fire.
