TIRANA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The unemployment rate among young people aged 15-29 in Albania fell by 2.8 percent during the third quarter of 2018, the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) announced on Wednesday.
According to official figures, the overall unemployment rate for the quarter was 12.2 percent, down by about 1.4 percent over the previous year, while that for the young labor force stood at 51.4 percent.
In the third quarter of 2018, the respective figure for the 30-64 age group was 8.9 percent.
According to INSTAT, in the same period the employment rate for the population aged 15-64 was 59.7 percent.
Between the third quarter of 2017 and the third quarter of 2018, the annual growth rate of employment among people aged 15 years and older was 2.3 percent.
In annual terms, the job growth rate was 3.9 percent in industry, 2.5 percent in services and 1.2 percent in agriculture.
Compared to the previous quarter, in the third quarter of 2018, the rate of employment among the population aged 15 years and older increased by 0.4 percent. The job growth rate was 0.7 percent in the services sector, 0.3 percent in industry and 0.1 percent in agriculture.
In the third quarter of 2018, the employment rate was 67.3 percent for men and 52.1 percent for women. Compared to the same quarter of 2017, the employment rate for men increased by 2.6 percent and for women by 1.6 percent. Enditem
