Chinese stocks decline on Friday

BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks declined on Friday in thin trading, ending a rising streak for three consecutive days, with the development zone related sector leading the decline.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.53 percent to 2,593.74 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index declined 2.28 percent to 7,629.65 points.

The combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 291.93 billion yuan (about 42.4 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 304.83 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most shares lost, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,307 to 108 in Shanghai and 1,951 to 138 in Shenzhen.

Development zone related sector fell, with Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park Development Co. Ltd. dropping 7.51 percent to end at 13.3 yuan per share. Shanghai Shibei Hi-tech Co. Ltd. fell 8.31 percent to 6.62 yuan per share.

Companies in the medical appliance sector were also among the losers, with the sub-index declining 3.41 percent. Lepu Medical Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd. fell 6.09 percent to 22.68 yuan per share while Andon Health Co., Ltd. went down 5.62 percent to 5.37 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.82 percent to close at 1,310.46 points Friday.
