JAKARTA, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's wushu club Surabaya United won 69 gold, 86 silver and 80 bronze medals to lead the medal table in the inaugural Bali International Kung Fu Championship which concluded on Friday.

The unanimous win entitled Surabaya United club a trophy from Indonesian Sports and Youth Minister in the week-long wushu sport event held in Bali's Nusa Dua.

The runner-up and the third place were secured by clubs from Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Surakarta respectively.

Bambang Supriyanto, the chief organizer, said that the initial sport event was participated by at least 700 wushu athletes from 88 clubs, of which some were from China's Macau, Norway and Ukraine.

"Results of the championship this year were above our expectations. We want to make this championship a routine event," Bambang said.

He added that the organizers have planned to propose the championship to national wushu association (PBWI), making it into a biennial sports event in the future. Enditem
