SINGAPORE, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.16 percent or 5.02 points to close at 3051.06.
A total of 602.2 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 461.6 million Singapore dollars (about 336.28 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 193 to 118.
The STI index went down 0.15 percent or 4.58 points to close at 3046.04 last Friday.
It was a half-day trading day on Monday for stock trading at Singapore Exchange, and the trading will be suspended on Tuesday due to Christmas Day holiday. Enditem
