BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Monday held a meeting on implementing the spirit of a speech on reform and opening-up made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

The meeting called on staff to study and implement the spirit of Xi's speech, made at a gathering last week to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, as well as his instructions on disciplinary inspection and supervisory work.

The meeting, presided over by Zhao Leji, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CCDI, also marked the 40th anniversary of the restoration of the Party's disciplinary inspection authority.

The meeting said efforts should be made to summarize and utilize the experience gained in disciplinary inspection and supervisory work over the past 40 years and continue to deepen reforms.

Noting that the study and implementation of Xi's speech should be taken as an important political task, the meeting called on officials in this sector to perform their duties as stipulated in the CPC Constitution and the country's Constitution and to work on improving Party conduct, enforcing Party discipline and fighting corruption.

The meeting called for resolve and tenacity to persevere in the never-ending fight against corruption and a strict standard in work to consolidate and develop anti-corruption work.

It also called for efforts to staunchly safeguard general secretary Xi's core status in the CPC Central Committee and in the whole Party, as well as the authority and the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
