HEFEI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Police in central China's Anhui Province said Wednesday they had arrested 19 people suspected of raiding a high-profile millennia-old tomb.

Procuratorate in the city of Huainan said the gang used explosives to raid the Wuwangdun tomb, which dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BC), for over a month in 2015. They later raided the tomb another two times and stole artifacts including bronze tigers and bronze chimes.

The gang was said to be well-organized, complete with a technical advisor and an on-site commander. They were targetting two other nobleman tombs before being arrested in November.

They have been charged with raiding ancient tombs and selling cultural relics, procurators said.
