Tokyo stocks open lower after Nikkei's sharp increase

TOKYO, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday due to profit-taking after the Nikkei index rose sharply the previous day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average decreased 60.10 points, or 0.30 percent, from Thursday to 20,017.52.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 10.09 points, or 0.67 percent, at 1,491.54.

Oil and coal product issues, service, and retail issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
