Changsha to host FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup for next three years

CHANGSHA, China, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Changsha, capital city of central China's Hunan province, will host the next three editions of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup from 2019 to 2021, according to the sports bereau of Hunan.

Changsha will welcome 24 top teams, 12 in men's and women's event each, from Asia and Oceania at the fourth edition of the tournament in May next year.

Australia triumphed in the men's event in the previous edition of the tournament held in Shenzhen, China last May with New Zealand being the defending champions for the women's section.

Men's and women's 3x3 basketball are among the 16 events newly added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by the International Olympic Committe in June, 2017. China swept the two golds from the events' debut at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
