SARAJEVO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) police arrested three persons and seized 240 kilograms of skunk drug on Tuesday in the area around Gacko, a town located 130 kilometers southeast of the capital Sarajevo, chief of the Police Administration Zarko Laketa confirmed to local media on Tuesday.

At an extraordinary press conference, Laketa said that this was one of the largest seizures of skunk narcotic drugs in the area of Gacko municipality.

It is presumed that the drug reached Gacko by the steady route through Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and was intended for the sale on Federation of BiH market.

In December 2018, members of BiH's Border Police seized some 200 kg of cannabis drug, known as skunk, in the borderline Bileca, 180 kilometers southeast of capital Sarajevo, where four nationals of neighboring Montenegro attempted to smuggle drugs in three vehicles.

BiH, along with other Balkan countries, lies on the route of international drug trafficking linking Western Europe and Asia.
