LONDON, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.52 percent, or 36.24 points, to close at 6,942.87 points.
Fresnillo, a Mexican-based precious metals mining company, soared 3.06 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. SSE and Tesco increased by 2.49 percent and 2.17 percent, respectively.
