SOFIA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two snowboarders were killed on Friday at noon in an avalanche near the biggest Bulgarian ski resort of Bansko, the country's Red Cross said in a statement.
The avalanche was caused by the two snowboarders on the western slopes of Todorka peak in the Pirin Mountain, the statement said.
Unfortunately, the mountain rescuers discovered them dead, the statement said.
Despite repeated warnings by the mountain rescue service, the practice of disregarding information on avalanche danger and safe behavior in the high mountains persists, the statement added.
