U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Friday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of NetEase and JD.com erased 4.60 percent and 2.22 percent respectively, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of BeiGene and Yum China rose 1.32 percent and 1.28 percent respectively, leading the advancers in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday as the U.S. government shutdown dragged on and key economic data came in weak.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 5.97 points, or 0.02 percent, to 23,995.95. The S&P 500 fell 0.38 points, or 0.01 percent, to 2,596.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 14.59 points, or 0.21 percent, to 6,971.48.

As of Thursday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,456.91, marking an 7.23-percent increase for both the month-to-date returns and the year-to-date returns. Enditem
