BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chile international center-back Gonzalo Jara has joined Estudiantes de La Plata until the end of the 2018-19 season, the Argentine club said on Friday.
The 33-year-old arrives at the Superliga Argentina outfit as a free agent after parting ways with Universidad de Chile last month.
"We inform that we have reached an in-principle agreement to sign Gonzalo Jara," Estudiantes said in a statement posted on social media. "He will arrive in the country on Monday to finalize details and undergo a medical."
Jara made 75 appearances for Universidad following his 2016 move from Mainz.
He has been capped 110 times for Chile and was a part of the team that won back-to-back Copa America titles in 2015 and 2016.
Estudiantes are currently 16th in the 26-team Superliga Argentina standings with 10 matches remaining in the season.
