HANOI, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- "We have yet to receive any information about that, but I'm confident in Vietnam's capacity of hosting international events," a Vietnamese foreign ministry spokesperson said here on Thursday.

Foreign ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang made the statement at a regular press briefing when answering reporters about the possibilities of Vietnam's hosting a second summit between top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump in late February.

The venue and timing for the second summit will be decided by those two countries, she noted.

"However, I reaffirm that Vietnam is willing to make positive contribution to promoting dialogues, maintaining peace, security and stability on the Korean Peninsula," she added.

The White House said last Friday that the second summit between the two leaders "will take place near the end of February."

The announcement was made after Trump wrapped up a meeting with Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of the DPRK's ruling Korean Workers' Party Central Committee.
