BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday condemned an attack in the southern Philippines that has left more than 100 people dead or injured.

China strongly condemns the attack that targeted innocent civilians, and expresses condolences to all victims, and relatives of the deceased, foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a daily press briefing.

At least 20 people were killed and 81 others wounded Sunday, as two blasts went off inside and near the entrance of a Roman Catholic church on the island of Jolo in the southern Philippine province of Sulu.

China opposes all forms of terrorism, Geng said. He added that China stands ready to work with the international community, including the Philippines, to jointly tackle terrorism threats and challenges and safeguard international and regional peace and stability.
