BEIRUT, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon and Serbia signed Monday a cooperation agreement in the field of agriculture, local media reported.

"The agreement aims at boosting trade between the two countries by specifying the products that Serbia will import from Lebanon," Serbian Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.

Nedimovic's remarks came during his meeting at Baabda Palace with President Michel Aoun aimed at discussing ways to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Aoun said he hopes that this new agreement will open the way for more cooperation on different levels between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Director-General of the Agriculture Ministry in Lebanon Louis Lahoud said that Serbia will dedicate one day in the month of June to showcase Lebanese products and promote them.

He added that the two parties will also create a committee that includes representatives from the public and private sectors to boost cooperation between the two countries.
