LONDON, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool will look to retain their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table when they entertain Leicester City on Wednesday evening.

Neither side was in FA Cup action over the weekend, and Liverpool will have the advantage of knowing the result of title rivals Manchester City a day before kick-off.

Coach Jurgen Klopp gave his players a vote of confidence on Monday when he commented that the club didn't need to make any signing to strengthen its squad during the January transfer window.

Manchester City visit Newcastle United, where coach Rafa Benitez on Monday again expressed his frustrations at the club's inability to strengthen its squad during the transfer window, and refused to rule out leaving St James' Park before the end of the campaign.

Liverpool are not the only top-four side in action on Wednesday, with Tottenham looking to put a horrible week - in which they were knocked out of both the FA and League Cup - behind them when they entertain Watford, who travel to Wembley off the back of a 2-0 Cup win over Newcastle at the weekend.

Gonzalo Higuain could be in line for his first start when Chelsea visit Bournemouth, although Oliver Giroud will also be hoping to make the starting 11 after commenting in the French press that Higuain's arrival could push him towards the exit door if it further reduces his playing time.

Meanwhile, Wednesday also sees Southampton look to continue their impressive upturn in form when Crystal Palace visit St Mary's.

Southampton have won their last two Premier League matches under new coach Ralph Hassenhuttl to climb to 15th in the table, level on points with Palace, who will be hoping that the effort expended in their 2-0 FA Cup win over Spurs on Sunday does not leave them too fatigued. Enditem
