DUSHANBE, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Nine people, including five children, died in a traffic accident in the Darvaz region of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan.
According to local media, the tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening on the Dushanbe-Khorog highway when a vehicle overturned into the Panj River after it lost control.
All the nine people in the vehicle, including a man, three women and five children who were considered relatives, were killed. Their bodies were recovered from the river.
This is not the first deadly traffic accident on the Dushanbe-Khorog highway. In August 2010, eight passengers were killed in a car accident at the Khoburobot Pass. In June 2016, a de-mining car from a Swiss foundation overturned into the Panj River, killing five of the seven employees in the car.
