TEHRAN, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Iran has transferred a big consignment of yellowcake to a uranium conversion facility (UCF) in Isfahan, Ali Akbar Salehi, chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said on Wednesday.

The consignment of 30 tons produced in the Ardakan factory, located in the central province of Yazd, was delivered to UCF in Isfahan, Salehi was quoted as saying by Tehran Times daily.

He made the announcement at a nuclear factory in the city of Ardakan in Yazd on Wednesday.

The UCF in Isfahan is now working with full capacity, he said.

Yellowcake is a type of uranium concentrate powder obtained from leach solutions, in an intermediate step in the processing of uranium ores. It is a step in the processing of uranium after it has been mined but before fuel fabrication or uranium enrichment.

In April 2018, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani issued an order to transfer yellowcake from Ardakan to UCF of Isfahan, a move in a reaction to the threats by the U.S. President Donald Trump to withdraw from the 2015 international Iranian nuclear deal.

Based on the agreement, Iran agreed to scale back its nuclear activities to a considerable degree in return for the lift of international sanctions.

However, in May 2018, Trump pulled the United States out of the deal and reimposed sanctions on Iran's oil and banking sectors.
