WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday rebuked his intelligence officials who had publicly contradicted his administration's view on Iran.

"The Intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. They are wrong!" Trump tweeted Wednesday.

His criticism came one day after top U.S. intelligence officials told the Senate Intelligence Committee in a hearing that Iran was not developing nuclear weapons in violation of the 2015 nuclear agreement, contradictory with Washington's rhetoric when it quit the landmark pact last May.

In Wednesday's tweet, Trump cited alleged Iranian rocket launches, saying that Tehran was "coming very close to the edge."

"Be careful of Iran. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!" Trump tweeted.

Washington has reimposed comprehensive sanctions on Tehran since the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, seeking to curtail "Iran's malign influence across the region."

At an international conference held in Tehran last December. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticized the U.S. moves to exert sanctions on Iran as "economic terrorism."

"We are here to voice that if the United States thinks that it can divide us, then it is making a grave mistake," Rouhani stressed.
