KHARTOUM, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday decided to reopen the border between his country and neighboring Eritrea.
"Today we sent a special greeting to the government and people of Eritrea," said al-Bashir when addressing his supporters in eastern Sudan's Kassala State bordering Eritrea.
"Politics may divide us, but what brings us together is bigger than what it divides us. There are bonds of blood and geography," added al-Bashir.
On Jan. 6, 2018, Sudan decided to close its border with Eritrea, attributing the move to reported suspicious military movements of Eritrea on the borderline with Sudan.
