MACAO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Macao is gearing up for the coming tourist flows during the Chinese Lunar New Year with a diversity of proactive measures to ensure good tourism experience and social order, the special administrative region's tourism office said here on Thursday.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said it would use big data to forecast tourist flows, which will also be monitored at tourist districts and congested locations for traffic control and diversion during the festive period.

The MGTO would also rolls out a range of other preparatory measures for the golden week, such as activating the tourism notification system, advising tourists to visit during off-peak hours, sharing information with other departments, more scrupulous inspections, and providing food guidance.

To safeguard visitor rights and tourism quality, the MGTO has sent out notification to industry operators about hygiene, fire safety, guest capacity, opening hours, guideline on receiving tour groups, requirement to declare price lists, and hotel swimming-pool management guideline.

The MGTO added that it would carry out more frequent and rigorous inspections of tourist attractions, ports of entry and different districts to provide guidance and help for tourists, and tackle provision of illegal accommodation with police authorities.
