KHARTOUM, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese authorities on Wednesday announced the official lifting of the ban on Egyptian commodities, Sudanese Media Center reported.

"Any person who has a trade registry can import commodities and goods from Egypt," Abdul-Rahman Agab Ahmed, under-secretary of Sudan's Ministry of Industry and Trade, was quoted as saying.

The import and export would be only through the commercially registered companies, he added.

"In case the commodities and goods violate the standards, health conditions and laws, they will not be allowed to enter Sudan," the official noted.

In October 2018, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir decided to lift the ban on the Egyptian goods and allow them to enter Sudan.

In September 2016, Sudan imposed a temporary ban on the Egyptian vegetables and fruits until laboratorial tests are completed.

Later, the Sudanese Council of Ministers declared a final decision on banning the import of Egyptian agricultural products, seeds and seedlings.
