Canadian stock market continues up Wednesday

TORONTO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock market continued up on Wednesday despite a losing day for the cannabis sector.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged up 9.62 points, or 0.06 percent, to 15,712.31.

The Canadian dollar traded at an average of 0.7582 U.S. dollar compared with an average of 0.7614 U.S. dollar on Tuesday.

On the market, a total of 132 issues rose while 100 fell. There were 24 new highs and one new lows with total volume of 217.3 million shares.

The energy group rose 0.02 points, or 0.01 percent while the financials sector climbed 0.87 points, or 0.3 percent.

The most heavily traded shares by volume were Aurora Cannabis Inc, Bombardier Inc and Aphria Inc.

Aurora Cannabis Inc. fell 36 cents, or 3.48 percent, to 9.98 Canadian dollars on 19 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. rose 12 cents, or 6.22 percent, to 2.05 Canadian dollars on 16.4 million shares.

Aphria Inc. dropped 9.03 percent, to 12.80 dollars on 11.2 million shares.
