BAGHDAD, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A Saudi government delegation arrived in Iraq's capital Baghdad on Saturday to discuss the construction of a football stadium for 100,000 spectators.

The stadium was donated by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud several months ago, according to an official statement by Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The stadium will be built in Baghdad as an integrated sports city, the statement said.

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced last March that the Saudi king pledged to build a football stadium in Iraq after a friendly match between the teams of the two countries in Iraq's southern province of Basra.

Iraqi government has formed a committee of relevant ministries to follow up on the project, which will be established under the umbrella of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council.
