RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro left the semi-intensive care unit (ICU) and went to a regular hospital room on Monday, his medical team reported.

The Albert Einstein Hospital, where Bolsonaro has been recovering from a surgery, said that the president has no pain or fever and his lungs' condition is improving. He is now on a soft diet and the nutrition tube has been taken off.

Bolsonaro is doing respiratory and muscle strengthening exercises and is taking brief walks through the infirmary corridor to prevent thrombosis, the hospital said.

The Brazilian president underwent a colostomy reversal surgery on Jan. 28 and has been recovering at the Albert Einstein Hospital since then.

Last week, he had fever and showed signs of pneumonia. He is still taking antibiotics. Doctors have not confirmed a precise date to discharge him.
