PARIS, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Robert Beric earned Saint-Etienne all three points with one goal and one assist in a 2-1 home win against Strasbourg, while Nantes took on a late penalty to shrug off struggling side Caen 1-0 in the rearranged 23rd round matches in Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

Beric gifted Saint-Etienne a quick lead just four minutes into the match with a header on Timothee Kolodziejczak's cross. The Slovenian striker then became the provider for captain Loic Perrin's header at the back post in the 27th minute.

Nuno da Costa got one back for Strasbourg in the 73rd minute from a close range.

Saint-Etienne saw their spot kicks claim waved away twice by match referee Jerome Brisard following VAR review.

With the win, Saint-Etienne break into top four. Strasbourg stay ninth at the table.

Nantes were rewarded a penalty with 10 minutes from time due to Alexander Djiku's foul on Majeed Waris inside the box. Valentin Rongier didn't waste the glorious chance and Nantes held an advantage to the final whistle.

The road victory lifts Nantes up to 14th. Caen remain second from bottom ahead of Guingamp.

Paris Saint-Germain sit 10 points clear atop the table with two matches in hand.
