RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The first day of play at the Rio Open was suspended without a completed match on Monday because of heavy rain.

Only two matches got underway on the outdoor clay of the Jockey Club Brasileiro before rain forced players off the court. Officials eventually decided to postpone all of Monday's scheduled meetings to Tuesday.

Argentina's Federico Delbonis led seventh seed Malek Jaziri of Tunisia 5-3 and Roberto Carballes Baena held a 4-3 advantage over Chilean Nicolas Jarry when play was stopped.

Defending champion Diego Schwartzman of Argentina and top seed Dominic Thiem of Austria were due to take the court on Tuesday against Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas and Serbia's Laslo Djere, respectively.

Part of the ATP World Tour 500 series, the Rio Open has total prize money of more than 1.47 million US dollars.
