JAKARTA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has submitted a proposal to host the 2032 Olympics to the International Olympics Committee (IOC) after successfully holding the Asian Games last year, a statement from Indonesian embassy in Switzerland said.

That would lead Indonesia to compete with India and joint efforts by the South Korea and the DPR Korea to win the opportunity.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo's letter, stipulating Indonesia's plan to host the world's biggest sport event, was sent to the secretary office of IOC in Lausanne of Switzerland last week, according the statement issued on Tuesday.

In a meeting with Indonesian ambassador to Switzerland Muliaman Hadad, Director Executive of the IOC Christophe Dubi gave a positive response on the Indonesian proposal and would cooperate further in the selection of the host of the Olympics in 2032

"The IOC has admitted the capability of Indonesia in hosting the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games in 2018. We think that this is a strong basis," Dubi said.

The selection of the 2032 Olympics host is scheduled to be held no longer than 2024. Tokyo, Paris and Los Angeles have been declared as hosts of the forthcoming Olympics respectively in 2020, 2024, and 2028.

Should Indonesia be elected, it will be the fourth Asian nation to host the Olympics after China, Japan and South Korea.
