BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. side has been urged to view China's development and bilateral trade ties with an open mind and work with China towards the same direction.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday made the comments when meeting with a U.S. delegation led by U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Myron Brilliant in Beijing.

"Mutual respect and cooperation of mutual benefits is not only the right choice for us but also the common hope of the international community," Wang told the delegation, which consists of former high-level U.S. government officials.

Wang called on the U.S. side to consider China's development as an opportunity for the United States, which will be conducive to fundamentally solving some problems between the two countries.

People in the United States are paying high attention to the ongoing high-level economic and trade consultations between the two countries, said members of the U.S. delegation.

They expressed hope that the two sides will reach a comprehensive, bold and significant trade agreement that will have long-lasting positive influence on bilateral ties.
