JERUSALEM, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Israeli researchers have discovered clay vessels of between 2,500 and 3,000 years old, the University of Haifa said Thursday.

The vessels of Iron Age, which were used in an ancient factory of luxury clothes, date back to the period of the Kingdom of Israel when King Saul, David and Solomon ruled, and the period after the division of the kingdom into two kingdoms: Israel and Judah.

Notably, the vessels were actually found about 40 years ago on the Shikmona hill in southern Haifa, but had since been neglected without being examined.

The researchers found that they were made by the Phoenicians who lived at the Mediterranean Sea coastal regions.

In addition, dozens of loom weights were discovered near the vessels, attesting to the production of wool and locally colored textiles.
