The most active corn contract for March delivery went up 4.75 cents, or 1.28 percent to close at 3.755 U.S. dollars per bushel. May wheat delivery added 6.75 cents, or 1.39 percent to close at 4.91 dollars per bushel. March soybean delivery was up 8.5 cents, or 0.94 percent to close at 9.11 dollars per bushel.

China and the United States on Thursday kicked off the 7th round of high-level economic and trade talks in Washington, as negotiators strive to beat a 90-day deadline that ends on March 1.

China has been the world's top soybean buyer. Positive development concerning the trade talks between the two sides is expected to boost U.S. soybean prices.

CBOT wheat futures were higher on technical buying and short-covering after four straight days of declines, and corn futures rose as traders turned to bargain buying.

As for weather forecast for agricultural crop, parts of U.S. state of Nebraska and western Iowa are expected to get hit with another round of winter storms starting Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
