BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Supreme People's Procuratorate said Saturday that procuratorial organs will spare no efforts to protect the legitimate rights and interests of detainees.

By last November, procuratorial organs had filed 55,858 cases to review the necessity of detention and had made 49,956 suggestions for releasing or changing compulsory measures, among which about 89.5 percent were accepted.

A two-year special campaign on the initiative was launched in April 2018, highlighting the enhanced supervision of criminal detention and the protection of human rights within detention facilities.

The procuratorial supervision also focuses on the detention period, correction and prevention of faulty case results and prisoners' rights to obtain labor remuneration.

In addition, procuratorial organs are also exploring new measures to verify the legitimacy of interrogations during the investigation of major cases, such as checking detainees' medical examination forms and the interrogation video records.
