RIYADH, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered on Sunday the release of some Egyptians from Saudi prisons, local media reported.
A statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency said the Egyptian Embassy in Saudi Arabia will follow up with the authorities concerned to ensure their speedy return to Egypt.
According to Al Arabiya TV, the released prisoners might involve those who violated the residency rules or could not pay fines imposed on them to return to their countries.
The decision was made as the Saudi king is in Egypt for an official visit and to attend League of Arab States (LAS)-EU Summit in the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
