Iran's non-oil trade with Africa down by 22.55 pct in 10 months

TEHRAN, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran traded 1.86 million tons of non-oil commodities worth 672.26 million U.S. dollars with the African countries during the first 10 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21, 2018-Jan. 20, 2019), Eghtesadonline reported on Monday.

The figures registered a 16.48-percent decline in weight and a 22.55-percent drop in value compared with last year's corresponding period.

Iran mainly exported semi-finished non-alloy iron/steel products, bitumen, liquefied butane and billets to the member states of Africa.

In exchange, major commodities imported into Iran included pod vegetables, aluminum oxide and sesame seeds.

In terms of total trade value, Egypt topped the list among the African states. The bilateral trade stood at 503,200 tons worth 218.68 million dollars.
