ANKARA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday discussed by phone with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India, Turkish presidential office said in a statement.

During the phone call made by Khan, the two leaders also discussed other developments in the region, according to the statement.

Pakistan on Wednesday claimed that it shot down two Indian fighter jets and arrested two Indian pilots, a day after India claimed its jets entered Pakistani airspace and bombed a camp of the Jaish-e-Muhammad militant group.

The ties between the two Asian neighbors have grown strained following the Feb. 14 suicide attack on the Indian police in the Indian-controlled Kashmir which killed over 40 policemen.
