BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's science and technology news from the past week:

-- The rover and the lander of the Chang'e-4 probe have resumed work after "sleeping" during their second lunar night on the far side of the moon. The lander woke up at 7:52 a.m. March 1, and the rover, Yutu-2 (Jade Rabbit-2), awoke at about 10:51 a.m. February 28. Both of them are in normal condition, according to the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration.

-- Chinese and American researchers surveyed 141 sequenced plant genomes to give a clear explanation of the consequences of gene and genome duplication and constructed the Plant Duplicate Gene Database.

-- Chinese research organizations jointly published a product standard for human embryonic stem cells, specifying the basic qualities of human embryonic stem cells, the technical guidelines for quality control, and related requirements for the use and circulation of human embryonic stem cells.

-- Chinese and American researchers have jointly developed a new type of ceramic aerogel which can be used in thermal insulation. The new ceramic aerogel has strong mechanical and thermal stability, as well as excellent performance in transformation and toughness.

-- Recent Chinese research has found how cGAS (cyclic GMP-AMP synthase), an enzyme and DNA sensor dubbed as a cell's gatekeeper, activates immune responses when the body has a viral infection, providing new perspectives for treatments of some autoimmune diseases.
