CHONGQING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Chongqing STM Motors suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Beijing Guoan in the second round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday. Chongqing coach Jordi Cruijff said afterwards that it was the worst first half since he took position.

"Considering Beijing is having a tight schedule, I asked my team to play aggressively, yet we did terribly in the first half," Cruijff said. "We conceded a goal early in the game, and this was the worst first half we have since I coached this team. We suffered from the low morale after being 2-0 down."

Beijing opened the scoring just two minutes into the game and took the reins ever since, adding two more goals in the first half and sealed the 4-0 victory with a stoppage-time scoring.

"I really appreciate the fans who support us in the stadium, but I need to say sorry to them. I promise our team will do better in the coming games," the Dutch coach added.

Cruijff was appointed coach of Chongqing on August 8, 2018 after Portugal coach Paulo Bento was sacked by the Chinese Super League club.
