KUWAIT CITY, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will hold the 13th Gulf Water Conference from March 12 to 14, Samira Al-Omar, director general of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said on Sunday.

During a press conference held at KISR, Omar said that the conference will be held under the theme "Water in the GCC -- Challenges and Innovative Solutions."

Scientists and experts will discuss a number of scientific ways to develop this important resource, adding that the conference will give solutions to face the challenges of water scarcity and to solve the water crisis regionally and in Arab countries.

Mohammed Al-Rashed, head of the conference's organizing committee and executive director of KISR, said that the conference will also discuss innovative solutions to seawater desalination and wastewater treatment.

He pointed out that in Kuwait, wastewater treatment has reached an advanced level.
