BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Huo Ronggui, a former official in northwest China's Gansu Province, has been indicted for taking bribes, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of power, according to the official website of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) Thursday.

Huo was a former deputy head of the agriculture and rural affairs work committee at the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the statement said.

Upon the designation of the Provincial People's Procuratorate of Gansu, the Dingxi Municipal People's Procuratorate reviewed the case and filed it in the Dingxi Municipal Intermediate People's Court.

Prosecutors accused Huo of taking advantage of his posts to solicit or accept money and gifts, seek benefits for others and misappropriate public funds to conduct profit-making activities, the statement said.

The prosecutors informed the defendant of his litigation rights, interrogated him and listened to the defense counsel's opinions.
