BEIJING, March 23 (Xinhua) -- The following are highlights of China's key cultural news from the past week:
-- More funds for protecting cultural heritage of revolutionary history
More funds for cultural relic protection will be earmarked for cultural heritage from revolutionary times and in impoverished areas in China, which has nearly 35,000 sites and monuments and over 1 million pieces of moveable cultural relics relating to revolutionary history.
The country also has more than 800 museums of revolutionary history.
-- China unveils areas for preservation of revolutionary heritage
China has unveiled the first list of 15 areas for the protection and utilization of cultural relics from revolutionary times.
The areas, spanning across 645 counties and 110 cities in 20 provinces, include renowned historical sites such as the Jinggang Mountains, known as the "cradle of the Chinese revolution," in eastern Jiangxi Province.
-- Asia civilization dialogue conference to be held in Beijing
A conference for dialogue among Asian civilizations will be held in Beijing in May.
The conference will invite state leaders from Asia and other regions, heads of international organizations and representatives from various fields of humanities.
